Odiyo and the Jamaica Book Festival are inviting writers across the Caribbean to enter the inaugural Odiyo x JBF Caribbean Flash Fiction Prize.

The 2026 theme is Spellbound. We're looking for original romance fantasy stories in which love meets magic, myth, folklore or the supernatural. Stories may be set in the Caribbean or be Caribbean inspired and should hold the reader from the first line and leave a lasting impression in no more than 1,000 words.

Prizes and publication

First prize: US$250

Second prize: US$150

Third prize: US$100

• Up to 20 winning and shortlisted stories will be published in a digital anthology produced by the Jamaica Book Festival and iMagiNation Books.

• Up to 10 selected stories will receive professional audio adaptations for distribution through the Odiyo app.
